Now that the schools are reopening to volunteers, we are getting our PTSA re-energized to offer the top level of support that our teachers and students deserve and are accustomed to. We can't do that without YOU! Please take a moment today to become a member of the Bailey Middle School PTSA for the 2021-2022 school year.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Tuesday, October 26th at 6:30pm to join us for our first General Membership Meeting and Board elections. This is your opportunity to meet the candidates. If you wish to volunteer on a committee, or simply assist at PTSA for occasional events, we have attached the Volunteer Form that needs to be completed and signed (two pages).

Current candidates for the 2021-2022 Board are:

President: Taran Holland - Hi! I'm Taran Holland, mom of 5, two at Bailey in 6th & 7th grade, and wife to Josh, a Navy Chaplain. I substitute teach at Bailey for fun (and money) and am pursuing a Master of Business Leadership and Innovation degree as well. I look forward to being a part of the Bailey family and impacting kids, teachers and parents with support, care and a little bit of fun!

Treasurer: Starr Soto - My name is Starr Soto. This is my family’s second year in the Escambia School District. We’re from Nebraska only having moved here May of 2020. We have a son in 6th grade at Bailey Middle School and a son at East Hill Academy. I’ve been a parent volunteer for PTA in our Nebraska school, and a camp counselor for at risk teens. I’m interested in becoming Treasurer for JBMS PTSA for the 2021-2022 school year.

Secretary: Natalie Hansen - My name is Natalie Hansen. My family moved down here to Pensacola in 2018 and love this area. My son Conner Hansen is in 6th grade at Jim Bailey Middle School . I was the PTA president at Pleasant Grove Elementary school last year. I am so excited to become the JBMS PTSA secretary for the 2021 -2022 school year.

9/24/21 update

Thank you to those who were able to attend our BMS PTSA informational meeting yesterday evening. For those who were unable to attend, we wanted to update you on the status of our PTSA, especially since several people have wanted to join and help.

Our current (last year's) Secretary and Treasurer no longer have students at BMS, work full-time jobs, and have moved on to high school. Our current (last year's) President has orders to PCS in two months and will no longer be in Pensacola. Therefore, we are at a crossroads with our unit. In order to remain an active PTSA, we must have a minimum of 3 Board members: President, Secretary and Treasurer. We may have more than that, but three is the minimum.

Today, our Superintendent implied that the District may be removing the restrictions for volunteers in our schools in the near future, so we are finding it pressing to fill these positions and pass the torch to an incoming group of parents to lead Bailey Middle School PTSA in a new direction. While you will still have our support and guidance as you step into the roles, this is your opportunity to create a new vision for school and student support with fresh ideas and excitement.

We are reaching out today to ask for you to consider taking on a leadership role as either President, Secretary or Treasurer for the 2021-2022 school year. We have until Friday, October 8th to find volunteers for these positions. Once we have the volunteers willing to lead, we will set a General Meeting for 30 days out for elections and to pass the torch.

Bailey has been recognized in the past as an award winning PTA unit in Pensacola. They have done amazing things. We are excited to get back into the schools to support our students and teachers and see what wonderful ideas you bring with you and what previous ideas you want to expand!

For those of you wondering, "What if we don't have the positions filled by October 8th?", we will simply have to "inactivate" the BMS PTSA until we are able to regroup and start again.
