Mrs. Janet Penrose

Mrs. Janet Penrose was born and raised just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Pensacola, Florida with her family in 1990.  She is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of '92.  Mrs. Penrose attended Pensacola Junior College where she received her AA degree.  She moved on to the University of West Florida where she studied education and received her degree in Middle School Education with an emphasis in Mathematics.  She later went back to work on her Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership.

She has been an employee of the Escambia County School District since August 1999.  She has spent most of this time at Bailey Middle School where she taught 7th grade Mathematics for nine years.  Mrs. Penrose then moved into an Administrative Dean position for one year and then served as an Assistant Principal for three years.  Mrs. Penrose went to work at Bellview Middle School for two years as an Assistant Principal and has now returned to Bailey Middle School as Principal.

She has earned several awards throughout her nineteen years with the school district.  She was named Teacher of the Year for Bailey Middle School for the 2003-2004 school year.  In 2007, she was named the Mathematics Educator of the Year for Middle School.  Mrs. Penrose was named Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year in 2013.
